looking for a short throw shifter....

power shifts are nearly impossible with such a long push or pull.
not to mention i have to nearly lean foreward to shift into 5th. (6ft 2")

homemade? sho shop?
need some facts and opinions

do keep in mind that these transmissions aren't especially fond of powershifting...

There is also the shorty shifter. I believe Jose makes them both. The shorty one moves the pivot point down on the shifter (so it raises the shifter ****). You then cut the shifter down a couple inches to give you the same **** height, but shortening the throws. A little less expensive if you don't mind doing a little work. The SHOrt shifter is a complete unit that is just bolted in.

And I also would recommend against power shifting, or your next thread may be something something along the lines of parts to rebuild it.......which are no longer available. Good luck

I have no problem powershifting the 90, and all it has is a rob shifter with new bushings

and I'm just a hair over 6'1''. no problems here.

One of the advantages of the SHOrt Shifter is that is has adjustable bolt stops to limit the over travel of shifter handle during hard shifting. You need to set the handle against the bolts, so that the gears are engaged fully, and then, back it off a bit. This way, the bolts on the shifter take the beating, if you slam the shifts. This way, you are not hammering the gears themselves, you are engaging them, and the shifter limiting bolts are taking the stress of the shift.

With the addition of the Delrin bushing and the oversize clevis pin, they will take out all the sloppiness at the shifter rod pivoting points

The SHOrt Shifter with the Delrin bushing and the clevis oversized pin will make the transmission feel as if it sitting under the handle, instead of 4 feet away.

If your transmission is in good shape, it should shift effortlessly.

I wish the throws weren't so short on it - the increased effort made it feel a bit notchy and hard to find the gears sometimes. A close to stock replacement handle that doesn't break and spin would be nice (I understand that that would have no demand and would never be made)

Jose, I know you've made the bushings for the clevis pins, but what about making up bushings for the box portion of the shifter? There is a bushing where the shift rod comes though that has play, and the at the end of the shift rod where the ball of the shifter goes also wears.
