The base Vette is barely losing to highly modified Mustangs, both of which cost more - I don't think it's remotely close to a fair comparison. The Vette is the better car, period.

I love the Viper too, and that falls right into my American car wheelhouse.

As far as swaps and whatnot, I refuse to cross manufacturers. I have a couple of swaps on my project list, and they all use engines from their families. LS-swapped Caddy, 3.5EB-swapped MKZ track car, Coyote-swapped Town Car.

Let's see these highly modified mustangs. I question the driver mod if these cars are truly modded.

That I can appreciate. I’m a fan of Motorsport. Although I’m strongly Ford biased, I don’t hate on or lack appreciation for work that goes into all makes of builds. But turning out a cross dresser is just taboo in my book. If I walk up to a ‘32 coupe at a car show and see the distributor in the back, I keep walking.

No, I want to compare the Vette to the GT/Ferrari/Lambo/etc. And it loses. Because it's not a supercar. In base form.

You're the one dragging the old hopped-up Horse out of the stall to fight the basic Vette, when it should be trying to stomp the Camaro. And I'm saying that the 350/500 you keep reminding me beats the Vette only does so by a slim margin, and they both cost more, and they are both modified cars. And the Vette isn't.

But I understand. After all, I'm the guy who decided to build a modified Lincoln to whip/hang-with stock BMW/Mercedes cars, when I could have just bought a Cadillac-V and done it without modding it.

When you buy a gt350r or gt500, they aren't modified.... That's factory Ford design and engineering for anyone to buy.

Also the argument that Camaro and Mustang are equals needs to die. It sucks that GM doesn't spend enough time and development to make the Camaro a worthy challenger.... So basically GMs finest competes with Ford's second best...
That 5.0 Ford has been putting GM bigger displacement motors in their place for decades....but if you look at the R&D behind it, you know why. What's the Chevy equivalent to Roush?

If you really want to compare apples to apples you can't with GM, all of their vehicles are in-betweeners.....
GM has been hype and gimmick marketing for decades...

The Focus RS is a bad example buddy. They have known head gasket issues and design flaws. My ST has the capability to make more power and be more reliable at the power level.

That's why it's perfect. Ask a few dealerships about Corvette issues... Lol they rushed it out.

And for anyone interested in modding the C8...good luck with that frame twist.

Bah. We're just gonna disagree about all of that. 350/500s are modified Mustangs. It's super easy to see that. Factory Custom, as I call it. I'll never accept that they are completely different cars until they have new sheetmetal, and neither would anybody who's not a Ford fan.

As far as GM goes, I love what Cadillac has done, and I'm disappointed at what they haven't done. They shed the old man car vibe and got into the luxury game properly with cars that competed with the German counterparts performance-wise. They took advantage of in-house power options. They just didn't refine the cars enough in the luxury department. But all hype and gimmicks? Nah.

I'm much more disappointed with Ford's handling of Lincoln, really. They could have done the same as Cadillac, but they stay tied to downplayed marketing and just embracing the older set instead of pulling younger people in with exciting models. I like Lincoln interiors better, by far. But why wasn't there a coupe? They have the Mustang to base it on. And I hate the new grill. I don't know why they didn't stay with the bow grill, or even the Continental grill.

Anyway, I'm a fan of American Luxury, and that means Cadillac and Lincoln. And maybe the 300.

They honestly should use the Ford truck configuration for all of their vehicles. You can design and have built literally 100s of different possibilities. I agree with you on Cadillac and Lincoln.

Sorry, Corvette can't seem to keep up with Ford engineering. Not sorry that people fall for the "affordable" gimmicky pitch. GM, your fans need you to get up before .... 7,8,9..... 10, K.O.!!!

I like the Vette. It's got nothing to do with the fact it's cheap. It's just nice, and it's positioned to make a real run at being an American Exotic, and joining the Viper and the GT as the American Exotics. And its a first year car. Those little build issues will go away.

But you don't like it. That's fair. I dig it.

I'm gonna go tap this PTU now that Ford's s-s-superior engineering department said had a lifetime fluid trapped inside it. Right next to a hot-ass turbo. And downpipe.
