Yesterday morning on my way home from work, a few thousand feet ahead on the highway I saw a doe standing on the right-hand shoulder as I was traveling in the #1 lane. I slowed and the doe turned 180* facing away from the highway. I maintained a slower speed (~50mph) and as soon as I was getting ready to pass, it turned 180* again and bolted in front of me.

Luckily, after inspection I could see there is 0 structural damage. No scratches, abrasions, or even evidence anything happened in the crumple zone of the frame horn. Pretty much just hood, pass fender, light, brackets, grill surround, etc. While it's in the shop, I will probably have all the plastics around the car sprayed to match the body, install the Duraflex chin spoiler I've had for over a year, and install all the custom powder-coated EPP piping and air intake I've had for over a year.

I've hit one deer, was more mad it got up and ran away, while I had to be towed. You think after 100 years of deer watching their loved ones be killed by cars, they would have learned by now to run the other way.

Was a passenger as a kid when dad hit one, hit one driving dad's truck as a teenager, and hit one with my own truck in college. In my experience deer have only learned one thing, the exact days that hunting season begins and ends, lol.

Was going down a rural-ish road one rainy night, two lanes, only doing 25 due to rain. Saw a reflective glint in the bushes to the right, Bambi was thinking of ending it all. Then the deer jumped out immediately in front of the car, NO chance to stop. Bounced across the hood and off of the windshield. Deer ended up in the ditch across the road, unmoving though it /could/ have been just stunned....
I had to change hood, windshield, headlight, I think the LF fender was repaired. PITA. But worse for the deer!
Hasn't been long enough for them to evolve reliable car avoidance, and it would be faster in the states like W. VA that have far higher hit rates than Cali does.
