Believe it or not, I still haven't had a chance to go on a test run! The weather around here has been horrible - snow, ice, more snow, more ice, etc. The SHO is just sitting in the garage wondering why it hasn't seen any playtime with the new pipe. No way I'm taking it out in this crap, though. That's just my policy.

Memo to self: next time you perform a mod on the SHO, check the forecast first! :nut:

Mine is in the trunk all clamped together. I test fitted it on my street car. Gotta do a little more tweecing to get it right, but it's a work of art. NICE job, guys. Sometime soon I hope to order a catted one for my street car.

Looks like mine will be arriving sometime next week. :woo-hoo:

Now that it's on the way, I was wondering if there are any tips for installation? I've had the stock Y-pipe off several times and the hardware (bolts, studs etc.) I replaced with new a year or so ago. Removal should be a breeze. But is there anything I should keep in mind with respect to a smoother install and getting the best fit?

Sorry if this is late - I just got mine installed a few days ago.

Mine look and fit really well as others have mentioned. The only thing that I would add was that I noticed that there was grease inside the pipes at the bends, left over from the mandrel bending process (this is normal). The grease had captured a fair amount of metal shavings from the chopsaw when the pipe was cut. You can see this a bit in this pic from 38SHO:

This is not an issue for the catless y-pipes, but I was concerned that in the pipes upstream of the cats this stuff would eventually make its way down to the cats and partially clog them - the shavings were too big to pass through.

This was easily remedied by pushing some brake cleaner soaked paper shop towels through the pipes a few times. This isn't a huge deal, just something to be aware of.

Well, I had to get my car back up and running for my commute today, but now I'm kicking myself for not cleaning the pre-cat pipes. I looked at the grease and shavings while I was laying them out and just assumed that it would blow out the back. Forgot about the cat that would be sitting in the middle.

This just adds to the comedy of errors and problems I had over the last week getting my car fixed. I was very happy I had no leaks using the clamps, and now I'll have to pull it apart again to clean it out. I hope the damage hasn't been done already. Maybe I will be swapping the cats for the test pipes...

i have a borla catback with a catless y and its kinda raspy........ everytime I shift I get a little rasp too when the rpm's are above 3k or so

man my old setup was the same as what you have now.
that little buzz of rasp i would get between shifts drove me crazy!
looks like a clean install though,no issues like the old pipes i take it?

I will eventually weld it and remove the clamps but since it needs a new alt. and water pump it doesnt matter.

yeah I think im gonna ditch the borla and go with a side exit setup and delete that ******........ it might be loud but lighter, faster, more power for sure

and I can probably even get it to sound better

these pipes fit a lot better then the last set, notice how the pipe goes above the oil drain plug now, as well as its not as close to the oil pan, and it also has much better clearance along the front subframe, another area I had problems with on the other one.... I do find it difficult to tighten the passenger side front manifold nut...... maybe its just how I adjusted mine and wanted it to sit for better ground clearance..... and yes i've tried lots of sockets, I have just about every known socket to man you could put on there.....

HEADERS HEADERS HEADERS. Get your Headers here.

Spring is coming. The y-pipes were a success. We are moving forward with the catback. Now it is time to push the header group buy through to completion.

For those who don't want to go back a few pages, we lowered the minimum run to 5 people and we already have one paid person. This leaves only 4 people we need to make the headers a reality. As soon as we get the 4 we need, we will go into production. This could be as soon as a week or two if even half the peolpe who showed interest come forward and join the group buy.

Just as a heads up, once this group buy ends, the price will probably increase to $699/set since this may be the only time we have them made and we will have to carry inventory.

If you are interested in headers, now would be the best time to jump in.

Let me know if you have any questions.

What the price for the header's. I saw 2 prices

Page 1 say $500. The GB on the site says $575?

The $500 price was if we had 15 people in the group buy. Somewhere around page 11, the group buy minimum was reduced to 5 people because we never thought we would get 15 people. Unfortunately to do smaller group buy, we had to raise the price to $575 because there were less people to share the tooling costs.

Are you going to be the #2 paying customer?

Well I started a new thread and I have you and a couple other interested people. If we don't get more people this will flop.

The lack of interest form the ATX guys will **** this.

Whats the deposit for the headers? Ceramic or other coating options? I assume they come with a Y pipe of sorts? Or bolt to the catback?

Since we are planning on pulling the header buy together within a few weeks, we did not offer a deposit option. If it really makes it work, we can offer deposits, but I am hoping to be in fabrication before the end of the month.

We can get the headers ceramic coated $200.

The headers will connect to the SHO Source y-pipe collector (which connects to the stock catback location or you can fabricate your own custom exhaust as you want.
