Sheared the CV joint. D@mn. Me and the SHO (the Black '89) were doing so well before that, too. What heartbreak!
The SHO had to be pushed off the course. How embarrassing. :laugh_ti: Kudos though to the autocross folk, they were very supportive and helpful.
A 3.2L, Quaife, solid motor mounts, Hoosier rubber and 18 year old CV joints (combined with a driver who punishes the car like he absolutely hates it) make for literally, a ticking time bomb!
Had to call AAA. Turned out the tow truck driver was an autocrosser himself way back when. Used to drive a Mazda RX-7 with a tubular chassis and a 351 back in the day. That car was "pretty f*cking quick" to use his description. He later sold it to some college kid who tried to use it as a daily driver.
At least the 95 mile trip home was pretty cool in terms of conversation.
Note to self- add pair of backup CV axles to autocross first-aid kit for next and all upcoming meets.
Raxles.com is the place to get 'em, right? :type:
