Ok for thowse of you who have been following my posts the SHO is back together and running like a cham! No More belt noise just a healthy Yamaha pur...heh and a little clutch chatter wink

I would like to do my valve adjustment in the next two to 3 months. What is the cheapest way a poor college student can go about this? Well it is not gonna be cheap anyways, cause if I am gonna go in there I am gonna get a new set of much needed plugs wires and gaskets.

Thanks To Everyone Again.

Glad everything is back on track. Good job. The upper end will be expensive. Buy the stuff in increments to spread the cost. Use the search everything is out there for this.

notdrphang, I hear you all over about the poor college student stuff. The funds are quickly dwindling, but... I just ordered 52 shims and 6 spark plugs from Torrie(www.fordpartsnetwork.com). The total came to $121 shipped, so that's not so bad to me. I don't know if he's still doing it, but I got them on a "group buy" for $3 per pack of 2. It never hurts to ask. The shims are part # E9DZ-6515-P,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z,AA,BA,CA,DA,EA respectively.
The tools are only about $40 from OTC. I'm not sure exactly how much they are cause I asked to get them for Christmas :) They are part # 303-344 and 303-345. The phone number is 1-800-533-6127.

As far as the wires go, you're a fool not to order them from Torrie. He's got them for 83.99. If I remember correctly, you have a 3.0, right? If not, the 3.0 wires will work on a 3.2 and they're much cheaper, it will just require a little re-routing. My folks paid close to $200 for them last Christmas. I'm sure you're laughing by now, cause most of my Christmas presents are things to keep the SHO running in top shape, but that's the way things are.

Those ARE great shim prices! My question is, what letter corresponds to what size? Some of the smaller sizes would never be needed because the gaps only increase as the engine wears. Correct?? I'll be doing a 60K for the first time soon, which is why I ask.

Group buy? $3 for pack of 2? I thought he was just going to do $3 per shim! Why wasn't I invited! Hehe, that's a steal. Glad you made out good. It doesn't matter if the toys are to keep your SHO running. What's important is that they're toys and you get to play with them for a while and have fun. Best thing about car part toys is when you're done playing and having fun they're in your car doing work instead of in the closet collecting dust.

Where can I order the 60k video that shows how to do the valve adjustment. I am going to contact the guy at www.fordpartsnetwork.com and see if he can hook me up with shims for a decent price in a few months when I get the cash. Wish me luck...I really want to but the video and see what I am getting into LOL. I am sure it is not that hard. I need some suspension stuff bad but my motor is about to hit 130k and I want it to last till at least 200k :)

It runs like a champ now, but I know if I clean that filthy intake and adjust the valves plus do a tune up the old girl will get down like never before.

Maybe I made a boo-boo. I just re-read his e-mail and it says $3 per shim... damn. I really wanted 4 of each. Oh well, I can always order some more :( And I thought I did so well on the price
