Has anyone found a good alternative to buying a new 3.0 liter cooling fan assembly from Ford for $300+? Internet junkyard search has netted lots of yards that want to ship a regular Taurus fan for $100 which doesn't fit and has different wiring connections. Can the motor be rebuilt cost effectively?

Back to the idea of rebuilding the original fan... Motor's rarely die due to motor failure. Bad bearings are the cause of failure 99% of the time. So, if you could find the proper bearings, or have a machinist make some for you it is possible. Cost effective? Possibly. It's either spend the time and money to rebuild it, or justs buy a new fan. They are pretty inexpensive. wink

my fan quit on me back in October/November. i opened it up to find it needed brushes. i contacted a local electric motor rebuild shop and he gave me the brushes cause he didnt know what grade was supposed to be in there.
