LOL... I'm gonna try sometime this week to see if the paint on mine will even accept wax, let alone shine LOL

Let me save you the time, effort, and headache. It will accept wax but it won't "shine"....it will be a "shiny dull" if that even makes sense. Right after I bought it, I tried to do something with it and gave up rather quickly.

Had I kept that car and known the guy that I know now that repainted my 89(correctly the second time), I would have gotten him to paint the 90. It would have cost me a little over $1000 though since Lt. Titanium is a BC/CC paint.

Chad, my brother isn't coming. I think he has to work this weekend.

I re-cleaned the front leather seats yesterday; they're slowly deteriorating worse (I think the top coating of the seats is gone and they wear faster). Finally installed the correct alt/ac belt that came in from RockAuto while I was at the convention. I'll probably top off the coolant, run it through the car wash, and let it ride. I just now cleaned off the "window paint" last night from the drag strip, lol.

Yeah, that's what I figure. I'm gonna see what it looks like after clay-barring half the hood and decide from there.

Meh, drove the 95 to work today and it's still running on the hot side (higher side of normal); got up to the N today and the low coolant light came on. When I got home it smelled like coolant and it looked like "baked on" coolant on the upper radiator hose, abs module, ccrm, etc. Not sure if it's the end tanks or hoses or what. I'd bought a t-stat before I saw this and was going to change it out just in case.

I guess I'll attempt to see what's wrong with it tomorrow, top it off with coolant and water, change the t-stat, and see how it does. If it's farked, I may not be able to drive it this weekend--may have to take the 4Runner or just not come at all, ugh.

Those gauges are not the most accurate things, is it really running hot? Put the thermostat in it to make yourself feel better and drive it there!

I'm thinking I may have to drive my 4Runner instead of the SHO. I am going to try to take care of the cooling issue today after work, but I still have a bad intermittent rattle from the passenger side. It now does it at a stand-still if I have it idling, then quickly rev it; it's intermittent. I'm thinking I may have a bad TB tensioner. If that's the case, I don't want to drive it that far. If I bring my 4Runner, I need to get rid of this set of Gen 3 seats if someone wants the whole set. I don't need them nor want them.

I'd like to, but I want to find out what this noise is. If it's a TB tensioner that goes, I'm screwed. Gas in the 4Runner will be expensive anyway. Wondering now if I will even be able to come, or if I need to work on this stupid car this weekend.

Yeah, well, after just doing a front 60k on the 89 in this blistering heat, I really don't feel like losing a t-belt in BFE and being stranded due to a bad tensioner, and I don't want to repeat this front 60k process over again at the moment. I leave work in an hour, so I'm going to go home, install this t-stat, top off the coolant, and see if I can figure this noise out. If not, I will post videos.

It's not the tensioner bearing. From my experience, they howl when they go bad. And a T-stat isn't going to cure your coolant issue. Top the coolant off and drive the car.

And don't worry too much about what the temp gauge says. My car reads above N all the time.

Does crank cancer make an intermittent rattling? It does sound like a Y-pipe heat sheild if I were to describe the rattle. Like I said, the only way to get it to rattle at a stand-still is to rapidly gas it/rev it pretty high and it does it for a second or two then quiets when the rpms drop. Only does it if there's a load on the engine or acceleration.

Sounds like a heat shield to me.

I agree and this is seriously easy to spot. Mine would only rattle usually on low rpm under load. Occasionally it would do it at idle. But not very often. And if it is. Let it rattle. We'll cut it off when you get here.
