It will be September 3rd-6th, 2020, in conjunction with annual Carfest event (https://carfestusa.com/), put on by Jason Kennedy and Autointerests (https://autointerests.com/). This is at the PittRace facility in the northwest Pittsburgh suburbs. Great facility for all of the events, plus a great track. Carfest is 4th-6th. We'll start Thursday the 3rd (kinda like the Monday of other Conventions), I'll set up golf in the morning, we’ll do dinner in the evening. Then we'll do our Car Show on the morning of Friday the 4th, and other Friday activities TBD. Rest of the weekend is basically Carfest, but we'll call Sunday our SHO track day (although you could do the track Friday, Saturday and Sunday), with our Banquet, Car Show Awards and Silent Auction Sunday night at the PittRace banquet facility. The hotel I’m considering as the Host hotel is 2.5 miles down the road, Park Inn by Radisson Beaver Falls (description in the Carfest website). There is also camping available at PittRace, for tents or RVs.

I attended Carfest in 2019, and it's an awesome event, with lots of activities. And PittRace is an excellent home for Carfest. Check the Carfest website for the range of activities. And the details, as the website says, will be coming in March. The Carfest website has some of the 2019 information, with 2020 details coming soon. Check out all of the activities at Carfest. They are sold a la carte. We are looking at having a combined SHO Convention /Carfest Registration site, with the Carfest part of the fee available as a credit against Carfest events. Most of the Carfest events include the daily Admission fee.

We are putting things together now, and hope to have the announcement, and the combined SHO Convention/Carfest Registration info, out by early March. Tracks are getting too expensive, and we can't afford our own, so joining with Autointerests for track time works well.

The combined Convention with Carfest will be an experiment. Although the Boss Club had their 50th Anniversary Convention in conjunction with Carfest in 2019, and they were very happy with the way it turned out. We’ll gauge the interest after this year’s Convention, and if folks love the concept, we could do it again in conjunction with Carfest. At any rate, for the foreseeable future, our Convention will always be tied to an AutoInterests track day. You can get an idea of their tracks and schedule at the Autointerests website.

We will soon be discussing reserved spots for the hotel, as well as the Sunday track day, but you could actually reserve the track time for Sunday or any of the other days right now.

SHO Club Activities

Jason Kennedy & Autointerests is working on our new SHO Club website. We want to roll this out very soon, and basically I’m the major hold-up in getting the content to the web developer (this weekend’s task!).

One of the changes is that we are going back to an optional Annual Membership plan, as we had with the SHO Registry, and the early years of the SHO Club. You will get a Member Number for your car, window decals, and discount on the SHO Convention Registration for that year. We have also designed a new logo, along with the Members-only opportunity to purchase hats, polo shirts, and t-shirts with the logo and year.

All of this, for the Convention and the Club changes along with the new website(s), has taken longer than I anticipated (I’m still waiting for the final pricing on some items, like as the cost of polyester just recently went up, and affects the price of Tall polo shirts!).

Another change is that we have formed the SHO Club Advisory Council (SCAC), composed of folks I work with to help make decisions about the Club and the Conventions. They are:

Chad Corcoran
Adam Hartlmeier
Michelle Hartlmeier
Ken Mallinson
Mike Nelson
Tom Ochal
Ryan Pasch
Bill Strobel

Rest assured that the 2020 SHO Convention is happening, as well as changes to the SHO Club, so stay tuned!!

Game On!!!!!
I’ll be leaving Shocago for Pittrace Wednesday morning about 9am, 7 hour drive.
Should be at intersection of 294 and 80 just before 10am heading East on 80 for anyone wanting to join the caravan.
Anyone else coming that way after please pick up whatever fell of my car.

I'm planning for a Wednesday morning departure too. I think it's right around 7 hours for me from Nashville. I'm hoping to bring my clubs with me Ron. I literally have not played golf since St Cloud in 2012 with you and the Limo Driver.

I'm like 4 hours. Forgot from last time, as it was a white knuckle drive home in a thunderstorm on the Ohio Turnpike...with drag radials worn to the wear bars! When I get with Jason to work with the hotel, I should get at least 5 rooms available for Wednesday night.

For anyone interested, check out the PittRace web page: https://pittrace.com/
You can see the layout of the track. All the picture cuts off is the tight hairpin at the bottom. If you look over on the right, you can see the go-kart track. The large paved area in the center is where they set up the autocross, and where all of the other events happen. Including the camping for RVs or tents.

Also check out their Total Vehicle Control class video on their Home page. Looks like they have a fleet of white Taurus Police Interceptors!

So is anyone else thinking about camping, or will everyone be doing the hotel? I always used to tent camp at Gingerman when I did the weekend AutoIntrests driving events :)

Not me! Camping to me now is a hotel without room service!

Jason Kennedy and Mario (Marcu) have campers and stay there. And there were a bunch of tents around at Carfest. Shower facilities are quite nice. If you need an electric hookup spot, they are limited, so sign up early. No water or waste pumps for the RV folks at this time.

Does this mean we will finally meet in person?

Not camping... I spent yesterday on the ground replacing brake lines on the 91+ and I'm paying for it today. I need a soft bed.

Possibly! The extended weekend might make this possible. Not sure if I'll be able to do the whole thing, but I've been wanting to do a Convention for a long time!

I'm only 16 miles frome the facility. If anyone not familiar with the area wants some suggestions on lodging, look into hotels in Cranberry, PA, or Center Township/Monaca, PA.

Cranberry is only a 20 min. (~20 miles) up the PA turnpike from the facility. And luckily it's a section that doesn't charge tolls. It is a large area with lots of hotels and food choices.

And there are 7 or 8 hotels just off of the Monaca exit of interstate 376 in Center Township. This area isn't quite as built-up as Cranberry, but there are still a lot of options for food in the area.

There are other posts out here with the announcement, but the SHO Club is now the SHO Club of America:

https://shoclubofamerica.com/

Upon becoming a member, you get a $25 Discount code for the Convention. And Registration for the SHO Convention, Banquet, caps and shirts, etc, is here:

https://shoconvention.com/

For SHO Convention attendees, AutoInterests will also be providing a $25 Discount code for the Carfest registration.

AutoInterests has been consumed with the Wuhan Virus situation, so the Carfest registration, as well as the hotel group rate, have yet to be finalized.
