SHO Club of America
Yes, we return to the wilds of northwest Pennsylvania again! Hopefully, it’s more open than life was in 2020!
Let’s get the (small) elephant in the room out of the way first. This past week, Jason Kennedy of Autointerests announced that Carfest has been indefinitely suspended. You can watch Jason’s announcement from December 30th in the video here:
https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=220620056359621&ref=watch_permalink
And there’s also more information at the Carfest website: https://carfestusa.com/
What is important here is that Autointerests is still having the 3-day HPDE event at PittRace over Labor Day weekend. You can sign up NOW for the HPDE events. As in 2020, we are calling Sunday the SHO track day, but you are welcome to sign up for any/all of the days at https://autointerests.com/
Autointerests has an excellent First Timer program, with instruction, for those wanting to try it. We will get into more detail in the future. My goal is to get a lot more of you interested in running HPDE track days. In past Conventions, we used to easily get 60+ drivers at the SHO Convention track days.
For experienced track folks, if you haven’t run with Autointerests since 2019, you need to establish your Run Group. Due to the quality of cars and drivers at the events, we experienced folks run Intermediate. See the Autointerests site for information: https://autointerests.com/
As a part of the issue with Autointerests, and the heavy losses they incurred in 2020, we no longer have support for our (new in 2020) website, https://shoclubofamerica.com/ nor the SHO Convention website:
Not a big deal, just a temporary setback. We are working on the revised website, to allow both Membership Renewals, as well as new Members, and the availability of the new 2021 Member caps/polos/tee shirts. We are also working on the website updates for the 2021 29th National SHO Club Convention to enable Convention Registration.
Soon you will be able to become a new Member or renew your Membership. Which will include the $25 Discount Code toward the 2021 Convention.
I have also personally met with the Salesperson at the Ramada. We have the rooms held, with a Group Code coming very soon. We are also having the Banquet at the Ramada this year. With a buffet and cash bar. And all the time we need! So, no need to drive anywhere after the Banquet! Wyndham changed their software system in December. My contact is trying to get our Group Code, but no luck so far. As it is now, the $89 rate will also include their great breakfast buffet.
Things are a bit hectic for us right now, but we will get the website(s) and information for 2021 Members and the Convention as soon as we are able.
To reiterate, Yes, it’s definitely happening! Plan on it!
