A BIG THANK YOU TO THE 34TH NATIONAL SHO CONVENTION ATTENDEES!
We are glad you attended and helped create another successful Convention!
We had an excellent week for weather, it couldn’t have been nicer! And the DoubleTree hotel accommodations worked out very well!
It was great to see the return to having Convention Caravans happening for the drive to Denver. They are great for socialization, as well as providing mutual support for any road issues.
It wouldn’t be a Convention without a few mechanical glitches. Forrest Dickey won the Hard Luck Award for his brake failure in St Louis, and being saved from a possible crash by destroying the Mayfield Heights flower bed! Joel Burdette also had a towable issue involving the crank sensor assembly, as did Rich Owens with his seized tensioner pulley. And Steve Bates ran into a vapor lock issue on the way up Pike’s Peak but was able to recover.
Fortunately everyone got repaired and were able to drive home!
Al Short (#42) got a speeding ticket on the way to Denver, Yours truly lucked out with a Warning speeding ticket on I-235 north of Des Moines on the way home.
It was good to see some of our newest Members attend this year! Steve Watts (#205) from Friendswood TX with his B-in-L Mike, as well as Dan Blackwell (#207) from Washington, IL, the hometown of our former President Don Mallinson, with his kids Emily & Seth. We also got two new local Colorado Members, who joined us for the Pike’s Peak drive. Tristan Grimes (#208) from Pueblo, CO and Chris Meiller (#209) from Northglenn, CO. And Jim Wagner (#113) from Livermore CA made his 2nd Convention, after attending the 32nd Convention in St Louis.
And a Thanks to our Sponsors: Doug Lewis of FPS for the Door Prizes and Mike Stimson of SHO Source Also to Members Bill Thiele (#46) and Gary McAuliffe (#111) whose monetary sponsorships helped with the Hors D’oeuvres and the Banquet (things are not cheap in Denver!).
It was a great week! From the absolutely incredible Shelby American Museum, Car SHOw, K1 Speed, the excellent Pike’s Peak drive, and the personal trips on Thursday to Mt Blue Sky, to Casa Bonita, and those that went to Buc-ees!
