My 89 MTX turns more to the right then it does to the left. Any ideas of why this may be happening and is this common?

Isn't how often a car turns left or right a function of the driver?

...sorry, I don't understand....

Are you trying to say that it will turn sharper to the right than left. Is your wheel centered when driving straight? Whens the last time you had a alignment done?

Was the steering rack replaced? If the rack is not properly centered when it is installed it will cause the problem you describe, that is fewer turns to one side. Look at your tie rod ends. Is one threaded in much farther than the other. This is how an amature would compensate for a rack that is not centered.

Your steering wheel should turn an equal number of turns to the left and right. What kind of condition is your suspension in, including the sub-frame bushings? Is the body straight? rangerj
