alright, this maybe a dumb question but when are the secondaries supposed to open up? ive talked to a couple guysabout this and they tell me around 3 grand, but some say 4, and on my car its 4 grand. does this change on some years? i have an autologic chip that changes it too about 3800 rpms, and about every gear i go up it goes up around a hundred rpm. until i hit 5th and its arnound 4300 rpms when they open up. so im not sure if this normal or not... oh and the cars has ported runners and bored butterfly vales and tanks. not sure if that would make a difference...?
thanks all
:thankyou:

There shouldn't be a difference between the gears, the EEC has no idea what gear you're in (nor does it care). I believe stock is 3950, so essentially 4000.

so when your engine is under ever increasing loads (rowing through the gears), you feel the secondaries open up later and later?

You have a vacuum leak or something

Run through first...slowly and listen for the secondaries. If they open later than 4000, that confirms vacuum leak, IMO.

When my clutch started to wear they didn't kick in till about 4200RPM, with a nice new stage 2 clutch they usually kick in about 3800RPM.

I don't have any chips or anything either. and why chip it? don't you know how to dump the software and decrypt it? whats wrong with you?! ;)

That's been my experience anyways.

I have no idea why that happened.

DO you guys really open the secondaries that often to care if they are within a 300 rpm range?:3gears:

Personally I haven't opened up mine since a couple gas tanks ago.

Stock opening RPM is 3950

You can change the opening rpm with a tuning device.

yes every gear i go up it seems to open a little later, and this is a completey new intake plenum runners tanks and bbs than my old stock one and it did that with my stock intake too, and i have a new clutch in it about 4k old its only a oem but i dont drive that bad ;) and the chip i have does make a difference but it makes it idle horrible and sounds like it has a massive cam, even though it does sound pretty awesome, haha. the chip is used, but i got it from the same guy i got all my parts from, i got everything off that car except the 9lb flywheel and stage 2 clutch, and an 80mm maf. that may be the big key as to why, but doesnt solve the secondaries question

Thats what Im talking about! When I had my SHO, they were opened up every morning on the way to work. Some people need coffee...some mountain dew...some, just secondaries to wake up.

haha i have to resist to not open my secondaries every time i drive it! and about the secondaries being open all the time is that bad or cause any harm? and does it have any low end torque? and everytime i start it up it revs to about 2 grand then it will go down to about 500rpm, and if i give it one pump itll rev up to about 12-1300 and slowly go down and idle good at 850-900. this happens without the chip and only when i start it after its been sitting for a couple hours. i can start it and start it after and itll purr like its suppoesed to... anyone have any ideas?? any help is greatly appreciated, my dad was thinking something with a vaccuum leak? :salute:
