How new of Taurus seats can I install in my Gen3. My drivers is shot, and needs replaced. Thought about putting in 2000+ Taurus/Sable seats

Well the platform didn't change much until they went to the 500. Not sure if the seat tracks remained the same through '07 but I wouldn't be surprised. Interested in the answer myself..

How about Taurus builder in the GenIV section? Maybe he was on the line back then.

Right section. I just thought, since he doesn't post here, a PM might get an answer.

This may or may not be helpful...
When I bought mine the driver's seat, just the butt part, had a gash in it like the previous owner ****** of a psycho GF or something like that.

Anyway - a local upholstery shop repaired it as good if not better than new for $90.

It's actually a high grade vinyl, but the look and feel is excellent.

yeah seats from 96-07 will work but yes the connectors are different and also the newer seats use a different buckle with a pretensioner on it that you will need to replace with the buckle from your seats. the gen 3 SHO seats are so much more comfortable than Gen 4 seats though. i have SHO seats in my sable and they are so much better than the stockers. i do know where you could get a very nice set of gray 2 tone seats out of an 05 SEL though

Thanks guys. The leather is still good, but the lower seat part is total shot, no padding left and the lumbar is toast. Going to Harry's sometime to check out whats out there, been seeing alot more Gen4 Taurus/Sables out there.

Why not get a quote from a local car upholstery place to make a repair and see how it stacks up to used parts and your install time?

Its a wash. I had asked the place a while ago about the seats in my 98 Expedition. It just needed the leather replaced. He said it would be the same amount either way if I got the replacement cover or had them redo it. They recovered my cycle seat and did awesome job.

I really like the GenIII seats. If it was the same to get it redone or to get a used seat from a newer car, I'd get it redone. Just my personal preference though.

I have a full set of Gen III grey seats in pretty good condition. Passenger seat is really nice, back seat is also in good shape. No idea what shipping would cost though.

I have a FS ad in the classifieds to those wondering.
