My wife noticed that the Ford oval in the front bumper / grill of my car is horribly scratched. Having just washed the car a week ago, I didn't see it then.
My first thought is vandalism, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue. It seems comparable to the flaking chrome trim on the back lights, which was replaced under warranty.
Any comments?

Mine seems to have quite a few dings where the blue is off and showing chrome. I think it is from hitting bugs and other normal road debris. I would like to have mine replaced, but I don't know if Ford would cover it or not.

I noticed after getting my car back last year from hail damage repair that my grill emblem was dented. The outer ring is actually metal, not vacuum deposited chrome over plastic. Rather than go through the hassle of going through insurance to get it replaced, I ordered a new OEM emblem from Fast Parts Network for $21. It took less than 30 minutes to replace.

I guess Mike your explanation is better then mine, since "speckled" would be a better way to describe how my front emblem appears. Since my dealer was flooded, I am going to see if I can get it replaced under warranty once they recover from the flooding.

Ford apparently isn't too proud of their emblems. They have been crappy for years now. I have an 06 Super Duty, and I have replaced the emblem twice and the 1 year old current one is starting to look bad now. It almost looks like water gets under the clear part and de-laminates it. I know several other people with Super Dutys that have had the same issue. You'd think Ford would fix the problem after all these years. Also, the black paint flakes off the "Lariat" emblems. Mine and my cousin's was replaced under warranty, and the replacements had the same thing happen.

I'm thinking of getting a solid aluminum one from Billetbadges. They're expensive, but I'm getting really sick of replacing these things with the OEM crap.

I had a speckled emblem on my 2009 Edge. Haven't had any problems with the SHO yet, but walking around our used car lot, it's prevalent on many cars. I don't know what's going on with Ford and these emblems, but they are covered under 3/36!
