S197 Mustang (05-14) OEMmufflers on Gen 2?

Hello all

Tried some searches here and found some old threads talking about the possibility of using 05-14 Mustang mufflers on our cars, but didn't see a definitive answer. The 92 I recently acquired still has the factory exhaust, and we noticed that the seams are starting to split on the outside casing of the mufflers. I can get a pair of good condition takeoff 2006 mufflers from a friend in the local Mustang club. Has anyone successfully put these on a Gen 1 or Gen 2 without too much fabrication involved?

Dude you can use whatever mufflers you want man, i prefer no mufflers but whatever you wanna use.
Autozone usually has pipe derverters make a 2 inch into a 4 inch id muffler from a duramax. Might not sound too terrible...

My oem 1990 sho mufflers are currently on a 1988 oldsmobile 98 with a 3800 series 2 supercharged in it.
No forum has confirmed its fitment yet, maybe one day...

The Mustang mufflers are somewhat bigger in physical size, so there is a bit of work involved in locating and supporting them, but like yaycandy said, you can do almost anything with enough time and money.

OK thanks for that. I used to own an S197 but couldn't remember how the dimensions of those mufflers compared to the SHO. Sounds like I should just get some universal aftermarket ones in the closest correct size and go from there. On the 95 MTX I had about 10 years back, we put on a Magnaflow Y-pipe and the old Walker Dynomax cat-back system ... I liked the sound of that combo.

zoomlater, I did see that thread. The S197 mufflers referenced were on a T-Bird SC, I've known people who've done that. (I used to own a 95 SC 5-speed). The SHO mentioned in that thread had 04 Cobra mufflers apparently, which is the previous gen car to S197 and had different mufflers and mounting than the later cars.
