I changed my thermostat today because my temp guage would never hit normal. It wouldnt even go above the line just under normal but it did move. After changing the thermostat nothing changed. The old thermostat was stuck open as well. The new unit is on the right. Is there anything else I can check?

Sounds like you need a new temp gage sender not a t-stat. Do you know the actual temperature the coolant is running?

No I dont know what the actuall temp is.
Ever since I changed the thermostat my check engine light goes on and off. I took the car to Advance Auto Parts to check the codes and the guy told me it wasnt reading anything because the light wasnt on when he was looking for codes. He claims that I have to have it checked when the light is actually on. What to do next?

If the light comes on at all I think some codes will be there. My check engine light would go on and off when my O2 sensors were bad.
