RPM's Rise when A/C Auto is selected

Ok, so here's my latest gripe:

Whenever I select Auto, or Def, or any other choice that would cause the compresser to engage, as soon as the compressor turns off, the RPM's jump to 1200-1500 RPM and stay there. If I select Off, the RPM's will still hold abnormally high. The only way to get the proper idle back is to turn off and restart the car.

Any ideas what it may be? :shrug:

That was the first thing I tried, to no avail. :frown:
