I bought this one a few years ago off another member here, Mike Gallion, vis a vis eBay.:

That's a nice unit. It looks like a crown vic unit. You can switch the "norm ac" and the "vent" buttons around.

nope. You have to remove the faceplate from the bubble EATC and solder it on to the similarly de-faceplated SHO EATC. So you need to know how to solder.

So what function does the Norm A/C button do once it's installed in the SHO. I was at a junk yard today and I saw a mint EATC in a Lincoln. This won't fit properly? It has the same amount of buttons and they are in the correct places. I didn't bring a measuring tape but it looks to be the same size as the SHO EATC.

you have to get the one that says norm a/c where the vent button is supposed to be. That fits our slot. you just take the button off of the unit that doesnt fit and put it in. the buttons are removable.

We've gotten really good at the whole process now. It would be pretty quick and easy to do it if we had a soft button and a round one. We'll probably do one for me sometime when it gets warmer.

Why not just leave the Vent and Norm A/C buttons the way they are since that's supposed to be the Vent button anyways. I'm just trying to figure out what buttons do what function if I do this upgrade. I kind of want the buttons to do what the are suppposed to and my EATC doesn't have a Norm A/C function. I measured one from a Lincoln and the size is pretty close plus the buttons are in the same position.

exactly what jason said.

lincoln, just used an old soft button (92-95) and soldered the round button's faceplate onto the soft button's motherboard and put them in the round buttons case.

The 92 EATCs cannot be modded, but the 93-95 EATCs can be.

I also think I read that these units will not work in the 89 model SHOs either.

i beg to differ.

i read before i did the swap that even the 6 ribbon units (pre 93) can work. it is much harder to do though.

and 89's had eatc's so why wouldnt it work in them? are you just spouting off crap?

I haven't seen any pre 93 units modded. I may be wrong though.

Meow... Why yes, I am just spouting off crap for funsy's.

Any by the way, why does sho source say that the hard button EATCs will only fit in the 90-95 model years???http://shosource.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=111

Like I said before, "I also think I read that these units will not work in the 89 model SHOs either."

I could be wrong, but I think there's some truth to it.

just did a search, found that no 89's came with a electronic climate control.

What was the bad info I gave? I wasn't the one telling people they can stick an EATC in an 89 model SHO. Just for the record:
89's had eatc's so why wouldnt it work in them?

I guess I shouldn't question you because I suppose you modified a unit and are now the new resident EATC modification expert.
