Well, after a long endeavor envolving everything from several stripped studs to a visit to the ER my rod bearings have been changed, with much thanx to Rick. I have no way of being able to post visual results but I will describe them the best I can. I was as pleased by dropping the pan as I was with pulling the valve covers, nice and clean. I was doing these bearings because of them making noise on a cold startup, what I discovered was interesting. The cylinder closest to the front (pulley side) of the engine and the one closest to the back (tranny side) were the two most worn with copper showing on the top bearings. The four middle bearings showed minimal to normal wear, I can't understand why the two outer most cylinders would wear at a faster rate than the four inner cylinders
. Well, she has 100 miles on the new bearings and the engine is a lot smoother, tighter, quieter, and has a new lease on life. Plan to do it again at 300k (I hope).
