Let me say I could get an answer to the exhaust stud question by searching but I have other questions I need answered at the same time and I'm in a hurry to go somewhere to night. I'm getting ready to do rod bearings tomorrow and here are my questions:
1) Today I snapped one of the front exhaust manifold studs right at the nut. There is enough room to barely get vise-grips on there. I tried to get it out but of course it's frozen in there. 1)How do I get the broken stud out and 2)where can I get replacement studs? Should I keep soaking it in PB blaster and keep tring with vise-grips? :(
3)I have never done any lower end work on cars and I'm a little scared at messing something up tomorrow. Whoever has replaced their rod bearings, I just want to ask if one of you guys would be willing to e-mail me and give me your phone number so if I run into a problem or have a question, that I could call and get help right away. It would be my dime and I would really appreciate it. I would do the same for others and I actually have with MASho95 on a ignition problem. Thanks everyone, this is what this forum is for.

2. I stopped at Midas, and they gave me a stud and a nut free of charge. It's 10mm.

I guess it all depends on how stuck the stud is in the manifold. I had to drill out all 4 studs on my friends 89...there was NO way those were coming out. If PB Blaster and vice grips won't get it out (probably won't) if all else fails you'll have to drill it out and either rethread it with a helicoil or just use a stud with an extra nut on the top.

Instead of vice grip. Why not use a 13mm deep socket and remove the stud by the nut that is part of the stud and right against the manifold?

..... because on some studs, those arn't hex nuts, they are just round. Just to separate the part that needs to go into the manifold from the part that goes through the Y pipe.

All 4?!? eek! I guess I was lucky with one broken but it took more drilling than I ever wanted to do.

The nuts on all SHO exhaust manifolds that I have worked on have been 15mm. I feel sorry for you guys in the rust belt. With the use of anti-seize lubricant when installing the studs, they spin right off the next time they removed. Check this topic for procedure steps to replace the rod bearings.

Before I did my rod bearings, I had Midas take off all the nuts for the y-pipe....took them 5 min.

They proceeded to come off without any problems when I went to do my rod bearings.
