Just got this 91. Prev owner took out orig head unit due to inop and put in aftermarket stereo/cd. I picked up another stock head unit, when first put in didn't get sound. Disconnected and reconnected, got sound, but only out of left side. Some sound out of right when balance is set all the way over to right, but not much. Could it be connectors? Should I add some conductive grease/jelly to connectors? Could it be another connector loose- like maybe an amp connector? HELP!!!!

Dave.. was the aftermarket unit in the car when u picked it up? If so, did it work and sound proper? Since your working with a stock head unit it makes things a bit more of a challenge. If your not lazy like me.. you could flip the wires in the plug to see if the problem lies in the deck or in the car.

Just a couple of thoughts...

No, the aftermarket unit was out and the stock head unit and cd player were in the trunk. Guy told me that the stock head unit was inop. Spoke to him since posting and he said no probs with right side with aftermarket unit in. Said maybe one of the JBL amp connections needed attention but didn't know for sure. I'll put a meter to the leads and see about juice, check the amp leads, then try some conductive grease.

I would try another headunit if you can put your hands on one easlly. I have found that the outputs of the factory headunits can be damaged easlly. I have a headunit that does the same thing that yours does. I have an extra amp if you want to try that out though. PM me if you want it.
