I was thinking of doing this, as I'm going to be swapping out all the hoses in the system so everything will be leak a 'seap' free for once. So I got to thinking about another pump and I saw the seal kit on Rockauto.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this... should be pretty simple from the looks of the kit... I would assume, pull the pulley, get rid of a snap ring or two, and swap some seals and reverse... is there more to this?

I have done it. It is easy. The bearing is very common I can't remember the number right now but it will run you around $5.

Planning on doing the same thing. Would you let us know how it came out?

I have a nasty leak too near the cooler and a p/s pump whine too. I need the whole 9 yards. I may just "replace" rather than try to reseal.

The bearing is 6203 2rs. Make sure you don't get 2z instead if 2rs. The 2Z are only metal shields on both sides where the 2rs are sealed both sides.

Ok... here is another question... my friend insists there are teflon seals on the ends of these hoses... is he nuts, or can I reuse em? I thought they were just O rings on there...

Those bearings are cheap! Wow...

Wonder if new impellors can be had . . . .

I would think you will need fresh Teflon seals, these should be avialable from Ford.

lol which will cost more than the hose... :( they always seem to get ya don't they... gotta walk right past the new car lot full of Mustangs, and a black SHO.... I should get a PN and go to their distribuitor down the street.. :)

Edit: I would think impellers would be fine to be reused... I would imagine they reuse the old ones on the water pumps that are reman...

BTW it a vain pump (positive displacement). Not what your thinking of ( centrifugal). Its completely made of metal and ware is going to be very small seeing as its always in oil.

yes I've replaced the seal and bearing before, its not that hard to do!

make sure you polish the input shaft somewhat if it was leaking and you see any marks of course........

also make sure to seal the pipe for the resavoir hose very good.... man I had that leaking on me one time and it really makes a mess.... park the car overnight and wake up to a huge puddle of ATF the size of the car on the ground...

defintely silicone it

I have one to rebuild one of these days when I get some time. Are there any tricks to disassembling it?

That's what the pic shows for the pump. Kinda cool, they have stuff for steering racks too... I just searched for Taurus and found VAPS, non VAPS, and some other stuff too... pretty cool site there.

My car leaks from what appears to be this area. I thought the hose from the reservoir was loose, so I replaced the clamps and made sure it was on all the way, but it still leaks.

I've never had the pump out, or apart...can you elaborate on sealing this area?
