The '92 SHO I bought from a dealers lot had all of the JBL system gear in the trunk stolen, except the JBLs in the rear window tray. Rather than try and find replacememnts (I'm not going for concours restoration) I had my local auto stereo shop take the system out of my '93 GL and put it in my SHO.
Pioneer Tape Deck (big investment in pre-recorded tapes, plus my own "greatest hits" tapes from my large collection of vinyl), but the deck also controls a Pioneer six CD changer. Two Alpine amps. One amp is a 40w X 4, to power the JBLs - which sound great even with the extra power - and the other amp is a 450 w mono amp powering a ported box with a good 10" sub. The box sits in the truck, and is held in place by velcro strips. The hole where the original sub was enhances the new subs performance by letting bass out of the trunk.
Sounds great! To finish, I'm going to line parts of the trunk (around the tail lights, the floor including the spare tire well, and part of the sides with Dynamat sound deadener).
For my daily driver GL, I had an Alpine CD player installed, and added an old Kicker mono amp for the existing sub box in the trunk.
