I have a 93 SHO with 115,000 miles on it. I recently replaced all the filters, all the sensors except the O2 sensors and TPS, Ive replaced the fuel pump, waterpump, and all the belts.I also replaced the outside air temp sensor. I cleared all the codes the scanner had brought up. The car ran excellent for about 3 weeks then it began to surge when you just started to tip into the gas coming out of each gear.I pulled out a code 114, which I thought was strange since I just replaced the ACT sensor. I also pulled a 542.I just replaced the ACT again and cleared all the codes. The car seems to be running great again but just out of curiosity I plugged in the scanner and I received just one memory code a 542.When I replaced the fuel pump I left out the dampner.I also obtained the pump from Advance Auto parts. After the research Ive been doing on this site and others I know now that, the fuel pump is too small.Anyone with any ideas on why that code keeps coming up? Thanks.

The code 542 will show up if the engine dies with out the key being turned off. So if you got a MTX and you stall it the 542 code will be stored. Don't worry about it.

A couple of things. First I've had the ACT code come up on my car intermittanly. The sensor is perfectly fine but for some reason it came up every now and then. As for the 542 code disregard that completely. You've replace the fuel pump and that code will come up every time the car stalls. I've had the exact same symptoms you have and it led me to cleaning the MAF. Do a search on how to clean it and hopefully you should be all set. I know that it fixed my stumble on giving it gas. You should also check the TPS sensor. Do a search on checking the TPS. If it's giving you the same symptoms at the exact same point in every gear I'd lean to a bad TPS. Dead spots in the TPS are somewhat common. Using a multimeter you should be able to find out if your's has one. Good luck.

Oh I forgot to add the a code will be given for the ACT if the temp is cold outside. I am not quite sure what temperature but I think I remember hearing 50degs. It just gets a reading that is not expected I guess.
