Removing Moonroof

Hey I have a 94 SHO and I need to remove the moonroof, but the roof does not operate. Any way to open the moonroof with out power going to it?:thankyou:

There is no real manual override. However, you can try and power the motor yourself. There are two wires running into the motor, at 12vdc to one, and ground to the other. If it moves the wrong direction, then reverse polarity. I have used a 14.4v drill battery before, or if you have a long wire you can use the car battery.

u can gentlly push up on the back of the glass from inside the car........did this in the 95 till i got ****** off one day and literally punched it open and it shattered the plastic tracks........not sure if ull need to pull hte motor first or not tho

Looks like there are 3 wires comming in. any idea on which colors i need?

The Blue and Red/Yellow ones. The Red one goes to the limit switch.

Edit: Those look an awful like window motors, which means I bet you can rebuild them like window motors... see my thread in the "How-To" section about those.

You are correct on both counts sir. These motors rarely go bad, usually the tracks need **** and the motor needs cleaned. They are a little more complex though.

You can also push it around as ultimate suggested, I would recommend removing the motor though.

Thanks guys. I should have also mentioned that the moonroof in question is one at my local JY.

honestly im not sure what all needs done to remove the whole assembly (havnt got the time or money to replace the 95's yet)

just the glass theres 6 screws on each side that holds it in philips heads

for the entire assembly im pretty sure its riveted in place so id assume ud need to drop the headliner then drill out the old rivets

hopefully someone whos sure on it will chime in
