In all fairness no one would've guessed they actually used metal parts. I remember working on full size broncos the big glass in the tailgate used the standard window motor, plastic gears and bushings. And that was for a large piece of tempered glass, I'm impressed they used brass but nonetheless it still fails.

After looking at @bpd1151 picture it looks riveted and not very disassemble/reassemble friendly, I might try to snag a salvage one for research rather than taking mine apart.
was my thought, and shout out to @bpd1151 for providing a visual... seems like ordering the replacement motor is the cheaper route.

Yeah, mine took a crap last month. Too cold to go salvage yard hunting and there aren't that many Taurus's in them. I'll pull it when it gets warmer and inspect what happened.

You are going to have to take the whole thing out whether you replace the motor or the entire unit. I'd just buy the motor. Rivets are not much to deal with. Hobo Freight has a rivet gun with rivets for $20.

I would be shocked if the motor was available to order separately.

Seems more often than not, it's the entire assembly, or you're out of luck.

Tasca, among others, show them available for about $140.

I'd probably forego the rivets and put in some bolts with locktite. Make it a serviceable part, even with the motor being available I might still try to make a gear, why not. Have to do the same process to get the motor out to take it apart, and I'd be willing to guess the lincolns use the same motor at least so I can probably rob one out of a junker for a test subject or spare.

Such a problematic expensive part for such a trivial function. Like many of you I'll probably stop using it once I have tint.
