I am having an issue with my rear driver side window. The guy I bought the car from said it quit working. It works however I have to have my driver door open past the first notch in the hinge for it to work. I am thinking loose wire. What I did was remove both window switches and inspected them. All fine, no loose wires or burnt anything. So I played with the drivers door some more. Whatever the problem is has to do with the door. It doesn't matter if I am trying to use the window switch up front or on the rear door, I still have to open the driver door.

I am thinking it's the wires that go from the door to the fender... where that big plastic barrel is with the wires coming out of the bottom. How do I take that apart without taking off the door???? I am sure I will find the pinched or loose wire there.

Look for the big cylinder in the hinge area of the driver's front door. This is the main connector for the door and every wire and their brother run through it. Try tightening the bolt that holds the two halves together and see if that helps.

If not, you're looking for a pinched wire. Try inside the door near the window tracks.

I will look into it asap. I never thought to tighten a bolt but we will see what happens, ya never know. All the inner door plastic is still intact and looks like it has never been removed but I may have to get in there and fiddle around.

I did not find any screws or bolts to tighten down so instead I grabbed the bundled group of wires from under the plastic barrel housing in the door jam and moved it alot as well as twisted it some... the rear window now works most of the time will all doors closed.

There should be a bolt coming in from the top:

If this is missing you'll definitely have loose connections. There might be a plastic cover over the bolt hole.

There must be a cap on it then because I do not have an exposed bolt like that... I looked at the top and it looks like one piece... I will check it again lol thanks.

This is awesome. Well maybe not awesome, but I have the same problem with my passenger front window. It will go down when the passenger pushes the button but will not go up unless my driver door is open. I will definitely follow this and thank you guys for helping to lead toward this being fixed.
Thanks guys.

It is more likely that the wires have been bent/twisted to the point of cracking appart. I see it alot in older vehicles that used heavier guage wire. If you tear back the tape on harness you should find cracked plastic on the wires, some of the wires inside might be cracked but the plastic holds them in place, movement makes them connect.
