Thanks for the reply ended up getting them off today without having to disconnect my sway bar at all was able to get a wrench and 02 tool on it with a long pipe for leverage to crack it and then just unthreaded the rest by hand. It was a pain but got it eventually, as for the wrap I ended up getting my new downpipes ceramic coated as I was worried about the heat like you said but also living on the east coast wrapping the pipes would lead to a lot of trapped moisture and faster corrosion. Ill put up a new post of my finished product! To be honest I have pulled that pipe off a lot and left the O2 sensor on. I would first disconnect the sway bar links so you can move the bar out of the way to get to the bolts on the pipe. After you have removed the bolts you will have to be very care full and twist it at a few angles to get it out but I will come out. I would also recommend wrapping the pipe with exhaust wrap before you put it in to keep the heat away from the PTU.
