Backup cameras have been mandatory on all new vehicles since 2018, so I'd consider them a safety feature and thus should be covered free of charge after that date.
I spend more time looking for obsolite parts that this one passed me by!

Yeah on those lug nuts unless you are the original owner they won’t do shit. I went through this with them on my fusion titanium. I swapped the lug nuts on my Taurus already cause of that shit. I hate it. Ford and their excuses. But yes they are standard now.

Man, this damned Fusion. Issue #1 (aside from the lug nuts), the shifter linkage bushing near the air cleaner will fail and leave you stranded. Ford issued a recall for that, but only for the 2.0 engine. Ours has the 1.5 ecoboost. Never mind that it is EXACTLY the same part, they only agreed to fix the $1 part on the 2.0. So I go to replace the bushing and knocked the car out of gear. I guess I didn't have the parking brake engaged and the car rolled into a tree. That was $1750.

Look up Fusion farting from fuel filler. It's funny to hear, but not funny when the car starts running rough. It was a $70 dollar fix, but the fact that it happens to 50% of owners means Ford just didn't care enough to recall/repair that issue since it normally doesn't occur until after the warranty is up.

I bought the Fusion with 12k miles in 2017; 2016 model. Between it and the mystery electrical gremlins with my SHO, I'm about ready to dump Fords in my future purchases. My F150 has been pretty solid, though.

Quality is NOT job one anymore and doesn't appear to have been so for quite some time.

I had a titanium and none of those issues. I think it’s luck of the draw for most. I’m not ******* my cars when I drive them and also I try to maintain them. I have a feeling this Taurus may be the death of me. I love big bodied. The Taurus is my fav I would of considered the impala or Malibu with awd but Chevy is a ******* and didn’t offer them with those or they’d be lit and make money although them malibus are troublesome and I loved the Kia Optima sx but again no awd option just fwd. thank god Ford went away from sedans I guess. Now they can screw up the trucks and suvs

If you are having intermittent backup camera issues, check the seal where the cable goes into the Aluminum housing of the camera. On mine the seal was obviously broken and every time it rained my cam would flicker or be unavailable. I replaced the cam with one from eBay, which had the same broken seal but the cam seemed to work well, so I used on exterior caulking to attempt to reseal the cable to the housing. So far so good.
