Hello everyone..
My 93 ATX is giving me some grief (surprise) Luv my car though...

If anyone has ever had similar problems, Id like to hear about it.

Engine will randomly start to miss fire or go very rich in mixture and cause a gurgle/popping sound through exhaust. The idle drops to 450 and the engine runs rough. As fast as that problem starts, it disappears. Happens when cold/hot/driving/idle/no load/load. Have changed cam/crank sensors recently and timing belt, spark plugs. Just changed TPS and mass air sensors. Been told to change wires. Bought a set of wires, changed the 4 I could get to without pulling the intake. NO change. Removed the Idle Air Control. Was very dirty. Cleaned it and had no change again. I am replaceing the IAC on Monday because it was still dirty and not working smoothly on the bench. I hope this IAC is my problem. If not, I will pull intake and do the other 2 wires and new plugs. Again, this problem comes and goes instantly, not slowly.
If anyone has/had similar problem please write. Im getting frustrated.

Code reader

Autozone, Sears etc. all carry code readers. The reader is plugged into a jack located near the passenger side firewall. Well worth the $$$$$$.

Whoa! info update... did some reading on here.. car with exact issues.. readers responded to it being the ICM.. or connectors to it. quick inspection showed corrosion on the firewall side connector of ICM. will clean it and post result. wish me luck!

I have seen a lot of input from you B.C. and Alberta guys. I drive my 93 ATX from Portland, Oregon, to Calgary, at least three times a year to see my family in Cardston and Calgary. I am planning to run up for July 1. Anybody having a local get-together during those two weeks? Please let me know. All of us expatriate Canucks get lonely to hear someone say 'eh'? Besides that, we obviously share a mental defect in that we insist on driving these old cars with the engine driving the wrong wheels. But, I am one tight SOB, and I have nothing else that will transport 4 people and get 27-32 mpg. on a regular basis and in relative comfort, and at the speed I prefer to drive. My itinerary could go through the Kootenai Valley either to or return. Let me know, huh? (I said I've been gone a long time), I mean, eh?
