Hey all, I just installed a new CD player in my 90 sho since the old unit didn't work when I got the car. Everything worked great after install except now my power window fuse blew twice on me. The second time I put the fuse in I got smoke rolling from under the dash. I pulled the fuse box and cover off and I found the window wire melted into my radio wire . Why would this happen? How do I fix this? Am I destined to drive with no radio and windows stuck down?

The window wire must have been making contact with the radio wire. Fix all of the melted insulation and make sure there are no bare wires touching anything and try again.

Also are there empty slots in the fuse box? Maybe get down to good wire and hook them up further apart in the fuse box. Fist I ever heard of this stuff. You pulling too much power to the unit? I would consider having a really knowledgeable pro tackle this now that things are electrically sketchy.

I fixed the melted wire as far up as it got melted and separated the two and still the same problem of the window wire getting warm. I'm wondering if there is a wire that has a nick in it touching the frame somewhere. Now all my radio will do is turn on and no sound from speakers.
