Hey. Well my engine has been giving me some problems... first the fuel injectors leak, the cam lobes have a lil piting on them, the cam chain tensioner is going out. Its pretty much got a few imperfections lol... Anyway i am buying a engine from someone in hillsboro in oregon with about 75-80k just needs a few small things is all. But what im wondering is how hard is it to pull the engine? do the accesories need to be removed to get enough clearence from the tranny input shaft Do i need to support the tranny or is the mount and gas piston enough to hold it up? Also i have a bypased heater core don't know why it is but i am curious if i had the engine pulled could i cut thought the firewall and make kinda a door panel and pull the heater core cause i really don't wana pull the dash and stuff off... Well thanks for any info ya can give me.

it isnt fun. I took mine out from the top. The swap took a couple of days. You have to remove some acc's, but many can stay. I got instructions on how to pull it at the local library. The tranny will stay put if you pull it from the top.

I pulled mine out the top. First of all remove the fan, radiator, Intake (prolly dont have to but i thought it made the job easier), the entire wiring harness, all the coolent lines, engine dampiners next to the strut towers, axles, motor and transmission mounts, and that should be about it. Find a couple spots to hook up a chain, I used the bolts holding on the intake supports they are small bolts but got the job done. Then pull it out.
