I just had to replace my belt tensioner bearing and wanted to share this small bit of info with everyone... I may not be the only one to notice this, so yous guys and gals may have heard it already... I thought one of my ilder pulleys was bad so I ordered one from that expensive SHO Ford distributor over the internet... I got it and realized that the belt tensioner pulley was ribbed and not interchangeable with the idler pulleys... BUT the bearings are!! I pulled my belt tensioner pully from the tensioner itself, swapped out the bearings and bolted everything up... What is the benifit from this, you ask? Well, the same Ford parts place said they won't sell just the "pulley" from the tension and it would cost me $148 plus tax and shipping... The idler pulley cost me just about 72 bucks shipped... I have inquired on getting just the bearing from some NSK distributors, but they haven't gotten back to me yet... So, if you know a bearing is bad in one of the pulleys, just get the idler pulley and swap the bearings if you have to...

Happy motoring!!

Good to know. It is also the same bearing as the MTX idler pullers. But they are near unobtanium.

That is the bearing in question alright!! is the $37 for just the bearing? I could use one to list the brand new smooth idler pulley I have in my garage (with no bearing right now) on Ebay... There is a local company here in Ga that will make, from scratch, any bearing you need... If I didn't need the pulley in a hurry, as the car is sold and I need to get it finished and back to the new owner, I would have check with yous guys and gals about it first...

Thanks all!
