PTU oil capacity

Planning to change oil in my ptu soon. Fill until overflowing? Or is there a specific capacity?

Also, has anyone drilled and tapped the bottom of '10-'12 ptu for drain plug?

Fill till overflowing from fill hole should be good enough. More people are doing the drain plug on the Edge, but still not really the SHO. I'd have to check part numbers, but if the PTU is the same, the process should be exactly the same.

Thanks shodded, you are like an SHO encyclopedia. What type of oil should I use? I assume a medium gear oil would be fine.

Use 75W140 FULL SYNTHETIC gear ****. No shortcut on that.

Motorcraft will be OK if you plan on doing frequent PTU fluid changes (like every year/10,000 miles). Still advisable to use Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil 1 etc full synth as Bruce mentioned. The RDU should also be addressed periodically, and it uses 80W90, though 75W90 would be ok as well.

Does the PTU vent on your SHO extend into the engine compartment? It would likely be secured next to the master cylinder if so. That would help a) add a little room for fluid expansion, and b) prevent water/debris from entering via the vent and ruining the PTU.
