...so been going down a rabbit hole today that began with my Virtual Dyno results and trying to find better ways to calculate a lot of different things. @High on Ethanol has been a great help in getting me schooled on some things and, as much as I hate to admit it, @stripSHO is keeping me on my toes as well, intellectually speaking.

One of my quests was to dabble in the art of finding info on volumetric efficiency and I stumbled across this website:

https://x-engineer.org/category/automotive-engineering/

Has a lot of cool formulas, explanations, etc.

Anyway, I'm a basic bitch when it comes to some of these advanced automotive concepts so I been trying to school myself a bit more so I can also talk about these topics with my pinky finger hanging in the air while drinking a beverage from a teacup as some of you already do...

Or maybe it's a dumb website, LOL...

Air density is king.....
Yup, I'm all on board with the Manifold Air Density, Ambient Air Density and Boost Air Density. I've actually been datalogging those values for a while now by using Barometric pressure from my local weather station. Not ideal as it would be more accurate if we can find the PID in our vehicles that monitors that directly, if it does at all, which I doubt.

That being said, I'm compiling all this data and trying to get a better idea of what it all means in the grand scheme. I've recently been doing a deep dive into some of this stuff.

Yes sir. I am actually going to buy a Banks iDash with the Air Mouse so I can watch and datalog all of that as well. It will really be useful with the Extreme Heat here in AZ and A2W set up.

This is why I chuckle when I see all of the "CAI" on the market for our car. We need a true engine heat isolated ram air set up drawing air from the outside.

Some of the clicks i matched up with my textbook when i got into work. Its all the same just its own twist on it but end result is the same. Maybe dumbed down more easy on the clicks.
So i have no doubts that the other clicks on there that i dont have in my textbook are wrong.
They are 100% right most likely, just easier to understand.

Hope this isn't stealing the thread. This http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm is an amazing site to piggy back with the one the OP posted. Using the information from that page, you can get the numbers you need to use a lot of these. The Drag Race Simulator is especially interesting and in depth. Fell in a rabbit hole yesterday and used that for a couple hours. A lot of the uncalculated numbers that I used were available here https://www.automobile-catalog.com/list-ford_usa.html, such as drag and and frontal area, gearing, etc.

Nice additions to the "Consolidated Research Thread"!

I am fairly new to the platform and this forum. I tried searching "Consolidated Research" with no luck. Can you point me in the right direction? With the car in the body shop, I am spending a lot of time reading (and buying parts lol).

OK, this one is my fault...you took me too literally, but I can't blame you for that. Going back and reading my post I can see how it would sound confusing...

I was being coy and suggesting that this thread we are in right now could possibly grow into a "Consolidated Research" thread...

...there is currently no actual "Consolidated Research" thread on this forum that I know of, but may not be a bad idea...

Hey buddy

kinda sorta off topic but that plastic engine cover, id like to have it on again. Did anyone figure out how it affects the temps under the hood? Probably not good for waiting during staging but who knows. Im not worried about heatsoak too much, i wonder if it keeps the heat more covered and away from the intercooler piping in and out? The hotside would be under the cover though but not the "cool" side. Should make the can of nickels sound quiet from the hpfp also.

Page 1 has a good write up from @Ecoboost_xsport
If you need more info i have a couple other links i can add in if requested. Or PM him directly

This forum never ceases to impress.

That reply is very much appreciated and has been bookmarked...

the asshattery in my post was lost, however. I was poking Ecoboost_xsport in reference to post #2 of this thread: https://shoforum.com/index.php?threads/ptu-fluid-change.142422/

Now I feel poorly about myself after that helpful reply. Putting myself in timeout.

Ahhhh, lol I get it now....because I'm usually bringing up the incessant PTU threads, lol...

Haha. I can be very...slow. Embarrassingly so...
