Anybody have trouble passing emmissions with it?(particularly NE Ohio people)? I'm getting a 150HC reading. Max allowed is 129. Kinda upset about it. Any insight on what to do? TIA

I don't know about the y-pipe...

But you might try the old, change the oil and spark plugs trick. That dropped my HC by about 30.

It's not the Performance Plus Y-pipe. My car was emissions tested back in October, 2001 at 250,461 miles. The high speed emissions test measued 16 ppm HC vs. a 220 ppm limit. The CO was 0.08% on a 1.2% limit. On the low speed test, it measured 23 ppm (220 ppm limit) and 0.04% (1.2% limit).

The high hydrocarbon measure means you are not getting complete combustion. A slight misfire or overly rich mixture could cause this. The most likely source of the misfire would be the plugs or wires. The rich mixture could be caused by old O2 sensors or dirty MAF sensor filaments.

Also one often over looked thing is the tube that goes between the EGR valve and rear exhaust manifold!

In my case, the tube had some holes in it which let in clean air and tricked the computer into running rich.

The 49-state MTX 3.0L engine does not have an EGR system. The California 3.0L and all 3.2L engines do have the recirc line, valve and pressure sensor.
