It looks like it is going to start to rain soon. I was out working on my car. I moved the sunroof switch to the dash. It worked fine for a minute then it stopped. Now none of the windows or sunroof work. the fuses under the dash are all good. there is a metal on on there that is really F$&$ing hot. None of it has power what is the problem, HELP FAST IT IS GOING TO RAIN.

there is a metal thing that is really hot? in the fuse block? its the circuit breaker for the power windows and the sunroof. re-check your wiring if you moved the switch you probably have a short somewhere.

I got it. There is a red/yellow wire that looped from the switch to the motor that I had to extend. I thought I had the right gauge wire on it but I was wrong, so I got a bigger wire and it all works great. I will get pics of this hair pulling mod. I think it is nice looking.

Has anyone figured out how to FIX this power window glitch?! I just had the exact same problem...started the car, put the windows down, rode around for a while and shut the car off (with the windows still "down"). Went out to the car, and tried to put the windows back up - nothing. I changed out the window control switch (with one that I KNEW was good) - nothing. All fuses are good. All relays are good.
So...after reading over this forum, I came across the "unplug the sunroof" part of a thread. Well, after unplugging the sunroof motor's power connector - viola  - now the power windows started working again!!!
What the heck is causing this glitch??? Does anyone have any fixes for this?! Now I've got my windows back working, and no power sunroof (leaving it unplugged)...hook the sunroof connector back up - no power windows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it is in the sunfoor swich it is easy to get to all the wires and relays. They run down the pass. side A-piller and the relay is behind the glove box. Check for any damage, it could also be in the relay.

But...my question is - why would the power windows (only) stop working??? If you note the fuse box, that same fuse is in there with the power locks (which still function, fine, when this glitch is doing its thing). I'm missing something, here.
Unplug the wire harness to the power sunroof motor, and the p-windows start working again. Plug the harness back into the p-sunroof --- no p-windows. What gives? And...more importantly, how do you go about FIXING this cute little glitch?! I'd like to have BOTH my windows AND sunroof working :bonk:

If it works when you unplug the sunroof switch, I would think you need a new switch. My problem was I moved the switch to the dash and didn't have a big enough wire to handle the power. So either in it in the wires or the switch.

It's definately not the switch. My old SHO (92) had a bad switch, my "new" one (94) has a nice, new switch, with new motor and all. I did some thinking last night, and here's what I came up with.
This problem starts acting up after the car has sat in the hot sun for a few hours. Also, with the door open, the interior lights are on. Those two bulbs up in the sunroof/light panel get very hot. After looking at it for a while, those bulbs also sit very close to that electric motor (that operates the sunroof). My best guess is that there is either a thermal overload switch inside the motor, or the wiring is getting too hot and shorting, and sending a signal to some relay under the dash.
I'll check this out today and post what I find. It is definately an engineering goof (I'm an Aerospace Engineer), as heat alone is tripping this relay and disabling the power windows. I would agree that it should disable the sunroof motor...NOT the windows.
