Power seats

The driver and passager power seats in my 94 ATX have stopped working along with the lumbar and side bolsters. Additionally my power locks do not operate. I have changed the 20 Amp circuit breaker in the instrument panel fuse panel and the 40Amp High Current fuse in the under hood fuse panel looks fine.

I have seen links suggesting checking the wires, lubricating the rails, etc. but all this happened at once so it must be an electrical short.

Any help is appreciated.

I am no wizard but if everything went at once I must agree. Clearly there is a conductivity problem in your electrical circuit. Have you tested for current going to the fuse terminal? Then check to make sure current is passing through the fuse to the other side. (I know that sounds silly, but it couldn't hurt)

from that point I would run an electrical current through the fuse bay through the next length of wire in the seat harness. I've never messed with those wires, but it seems that there is a fault in the wire somewhere. Also, checks the connections themselves for loss of conductivity due to corrosion. I've seen that happen a lot in other vehicles, (normally in the engine compartment, but it could occur there too, eh?)

Check the common ground under the carpet alond the drivers front door. SAME thing happened to mine. But I have a short in my system somewhere. I can put a new fuse in and it will work for a short while then the fuse will blow again. But check the ground first. That could be the cause of all your priblems.

Thanks TROG and marbs. marbs do you need to remove the door sill cover to access the common ground or is down by the footwell?

Yes. it's under the carpet behind the trunk and gascap release.
