Power seats. Can they be moved manually?

I am trying to remove the seats in a wrecked SHO. The problem is that the passenger power seat does not work. It is adjusted to where the front bolts are accessible, but the rear bolts are buried under the tracks. I can't get a wrench on either of them.

Is there a way to manually move the seat forward so I can access the rear bolts?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Last time I had that happened to me , I cut the rails near where it bolts. Its scrap anyway.

BTW you can grab another rail in the JY (manual ones fits) ALL regular taurus 87-99. Those are dirt cheap. But you will loose some electrical features.

Take a battery with you.
Drop in and connect or connect with jumper cables.
Or disconnect the seat connector and use jumper wires.
One pin is positive and the other is negative.

Does it matter what wire is + or - at the seat? I will have to give this a try.

The front fasteners are bolts and the rear fasteners are studs with a nut on them.
You will be able to get a small open end wrench on the nuts no matter how far the seat is back. You will only be able to turn the nut 1/8 of a revolution at a time, but they will come out. Soak the nut with penetrating oil in advance and get a small battery brush in there to clean off any rust. That way you get to the point where you can spin the nut off with your fingers a lot faster. The rear seat should come out to give you some room.

Nope - won't matter a lick. The only thing that'll happen if you reverse the wiring is that the switches will also be reversed - forwards will be backwards, etc. Just hook 'em up and move the switch until the desired effect happens.

There is no way the wrench will fit, I tried. it doesn't spin enough to re-position the wrench. I also removed the rear seat to get a visual. there just isn't any room with the seat in its current position.

I hope that hooking a battery direct to the seat will work.

one of those $40 harbor freight jump boxes is very handy for this type of thing.

sometimes you can actually hook it up where the battery would have been in the car and get the seat to move, depending on what has already been removed from the car.
