Had posted this in an older thread, wasn't getting any response so figured maybe itd be better to just start a new one:

In the process of trying to replace a broken mast, the inner cord had snapped near the midpoint where the mast broke, and after turning the radio on was able to pull it all the way out no problem, the mast however is something else, from the instructions I found at shotimes (http://www.shotimes.com/php-bin/modu...hold=0&sid=145)
its saying the mast can be pulled out once that top nut is off..... hadn't had such luck haha, is it for sure possible to remove the mast without taking the motor apart? thanks for any help.

Yea, I just did mine too, didn't come out as easily as it should have. I still had some in mine, so I had to pull the whole thing out and clean it too. It's pretty straight forward in coming out. Unless maybe that sleeve on there is out of round and binding on the hole trying to come out. If thats the case, cut it off close to the body, and pull the motor out that way.

Ummm... its a lot easier that way... I dont remember why but I took mine out with one of those 'flexy' extentions.. about 8" or so and that 5.5mm I think it was.. I dont remember.. maybe an 8mm even.. :)

If you turn the wheel all the way to the right, and just peel back that liner near the motor you could probally get in there without too much trouble. The biggest thing is figuring out where the screws are because its kind of in a blind spot.

If someone had a pic of one it would be mega helpful... hint hint.. anyone?

Edit: The bolt is a 7/32.. taken from Here

Ditto that! I also ended up taking off my wheel and peeling back the fender well to get to it. I acctually had to pull the whole motor out, take it apart and clean out all the broken pieces of plastic b/c of someone forcing it up and down( probably carwash of something) Anyways it took me about 1- 1 1/2 hrs. I took my time though, & it was pretty easy. I just followed the guideline on 'shotimes' for the most part. This should be a pretty easy fix. It's a pretty strait foward setup:thumb:
