Power antenna problem

Can anyone give me some help with this? The power antenna on my 93atx extends when the car is powered up, but immediately retracts. Sometimes it extends to full height and sometimes only goes up a short way before retracting. The sound system is the stock "Premium Sound" am/fm/cassette. I installed a new antenna shaft about 6 months ago, and yes, I have checked the connector to make sure it is secure. Thanks for any advice.

When you replaced the mast, did you take off thhe motor/gear assembly and open it up to see if there was still a broken-off piece of the plastic "drive wire" inside? A left-over piece might interfere with the proper operation of the unit. Opening it up also allows you to clean out any dirt and old grease and to re-**** things.

Other than that, I would suspect the power antenna module, located behind the glove box.

I appreciate your input. I did indeed remove and split the motor/gear unit, removed the broken segment of the nylon drive cord, and cleaned and lubed the assembly. It has worked as it should for 6 months. Sometimes the antenna doesn't go up at all when power is applied and other times it acts as I described in my thread. I wasn't aware of a power antenna module behind the glove box. I'll give it a look/see. Thanks.
