Well i tried to tackle the antenna issue ive been having with my 94 tonight. The car previously had the stock power antenna bypassed and an aftermarket mini antenna installed inside the car on the windshield near the headliner. Still, there was no reception even with that so I decieded to remove it and replace the stock power antenna with a good used unit. After connecting up the power and anntenna lines to the new unit I turned on the radio to test for proper operation. The reception was much better, so the major problem was solved, however the new antenna failed to extend. When I turn off the radio the motor gets juice to retract the antenna, but it is already retracted because it did not go up in the first place! I swapped in the old antenna again and sure enough it did the same thing. Nothing happens when I power on the radio, but when I turn it off the antenna tries to retract. Thoughts as to what this could be? I have also heard that a corvette anntenna will work in place of the stock one? Does this include the whole motor assembly too?

thanks

Silas

I suppose for starters you could use some info on what wires are what. Sounds like your "Power Up" part of the circuit is not working properly.

This is from my '94 Ford Manual:

Pin Number - Wire Color - Circuit Function

1 (W/PK) From Starting System
2 (Y/BK) Radio Antenna Switch Feed
3 (LG/Y) Memory Feed
4 (R/PK) Antenna Up Travel
5 (O/LB) Radio Chassis Assy to Foot Control Switch
6 Not Used
7 (BK) Ground
8 (DG/Y) Antenna Down Travel

The Corvette piece that works is just the mast, not the motor.
