My Full bolt on race car get's 30 MPG Highway, My other halfs 3.2 MTX gets 30 MPG Highway and 23 City. So get out of here saying we are "inflating" our numbers, giving someone who is loooking at buying a SHO BAD Info based on your car that clearly has something wrong (or the driver can't keep his foot out of it) if he can only Muster 16 MPG.

-Sam

Ok Phuckstick........... :nut: Why would I deliberately under inflate my MPG numbers? For what reason? That's simply asinine!

As I've mentioned, I know someone that has shown me their NEW VEHICLE window sticker....PROVIDED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY.(i.e. 16/24)

There are no codes currently stored in my SHO, the vehicle is running tip top, and for what it's worth....does not have under inflated tires either.
I would submit that numbers significantly more than window sticker figures, are for a vehicle that has clearly been "enhanced" for better fuel economy. However as far as stock goes......what I'm seeing is what I get.
Cheers!

We don't think that you intentionally under-inflate the MPG figures, we just think you're under-educated as to what these cars can do, MPG-wise. It is possible to be unintentionally wrong, ya know.

Quit telling us what the window stickers say; we're not total morons, we already know them.

We also know what MPG figures a properly maintained SHO will do in the real world, and it can easily be 10-20% higher than the EPA figures. Are you so cocky that you think that your ONE car's worth of experience and your knowledge of the manufacturer-spec'd EPA figures somehow trumps over 20 years of experience by many, MANY knowledgeable SHO folk?

There have been/are more than just you. And just because a peice of paper says 24mpg, doesn't mean everyones car will do exactly that. Variables...

There also plenty of people who complain about getting shit mileage. Generally those cars have been beat to shit, not well maintained, driven hard/vs highway with the cruise set, etc

First of all, quite a few of them.

Secondly, does being a FoMoCo employee or having access to FoMoCo info mean that your odometer and fuel pump flow meter is accurate while everyone else's is not? Sorry, but this is one area where literally anyone can be damn near dead-on balls accurate (it's an industry term ).

I can only conclude by the fact that you think having 15-20 year old manufacturer information trumps real-world accurately measured empirical evidence that you're either colossally stupid or just blinded by your cockiness.

Think about it for a second.

Actually, my co-worker still have his window sticker from when he purchased his SHO new in '94. It shows 16city 24Hwy.

Rubydist: Based on the "real" numbers you reference above, my SHO is averaging 16-18 city; and I haven't had a chance to test HWY, cuz I don't drive HWY much, (and haven't been on any trips).
I don't have any engine issues to speak of.....I've just accepted it as nature of the beast. Runs great...what do I expect-- right?
Cheers!

I've taken my '92 on two vacation drives from W. Oregon to the Rockies in Montana, and carefully recorded the mileage and fuel purchases in a log. Of course it's an MTX, and that helps, but the average mileage, which doesn't really include city driving but does include some slow cruising through and around Glacier Nat'l Park (sightseeing) and average highway speeds between 65 and 80, with luggage and my wife onboard, and the sucker gets 27-28 mpg. That was measured each time over about 1,400 miles of travel.

The car is a "breather" (SHO Source exhaust, Magnaflow Y-pipe, Magnaflow mufflers, K & N air and 73 mm MAF body) but I think that all that stuff is basically a wash when it comes to mileage (except at WOT ) - so not bad mileage for a car with a curb weight of around 3,300.

I have a fully stock 91+,fully tuned with 160,000 miles, gone through from the radiator back to the firewall that gets 16 city, mid 20's Highway. Always has, always will in it's present condition. 2500 is what I paid for mine that was always garaged and pretty well maintained. I drove 150 miles to Seattle to get it. No rust, but my hood and trunk lid are starting to lose the clear coat. Am going to take care of that in the Spring. Already had the top painted as it was the worst. Stopped in Oregon, which won't let you self serve, and some young girl filled it with regular after a life of premium. At first, after reading about the octane issue here, I didn't get too excited, but it's starting to get a little hard to start in the morning and it sometimes knocks a little starting out of first gear. Down to half a tank and going to put some Premium in that will make it at least Plus grade. I'm going to have to be more vigilant on the fill ups in Oregon.

I get the exact same mileage in my 91 and it has 160,000mi on it too. I wonder why I get those numbers. No codes, new oxygen sensors, maf, thermostat, plugs and wires, top and front 60K, and no vacuum leaks(car dies if I pull the IAC connector. Mind boggling to me.

That's just the nature of the beast, Trainguy. Sometimes, depending on my driving, I don't even get 16 in town. It's even been 11 when it was sunny and required a heavier foot to be fun in..lol.
