You are correct, it is a rare factory Mini-disc player

As Miltownsho pointed out it an OEM Ford Minidisc player. I have it hooked up as a slave to the Ford AM/FM CD player. I had been looking for one for quiet a while and then all of a sudden several NOS units popped up on ebay for $35. :naughty: The gauges are Dakota Digital. I have had one of the text display quit and I replaced it. The text display is an LED bar that just plugs into the board. If you pop the gauge open you can replace it easily.

Cant resist...I LOVE my gauges. Even though everyone has posted thier Ebay gauges... Only thing making mine differnet is I have the "Old" style bezel where it looks sorta chrome, or very fine brushed. Not coarase and cheap looking.

Also...Those autometer Lunar gauges...They dont match as well as everyone told me. Im still getting them tho.

Here is a very bad shot of my setup in bandito. The ebay white faced gauges and ive got a pod with digital volt and oil pressure gauges. I hate them! They are electric obviously and when the oil pressure gets below 12psi it starts blinking saying low low low. Its like christmas lights at night. I will probably replace them pretty soon with some analog's like i had in bandit.

EDIT: one thing id like to add for the ebay white face gauges. It looks so much better if you take a red sharpee and color the needles red. You cant tell in my pics but mine are red.

has anyone ever wondered how come the ebay ones "look" more professional than the speedhut ones? even tho you pay alot more for the speedhut - the ebay ones more closely match the stock ones (especially where the low-gas light is and all the text).

The Speedhut gauges lack all of the writing on purpose. Ian (ManySHOs) was the person that first approached Speedhut about making gauges for the SHO. They left it up to him to decide what the gauges would look like.

He and I decided to make them clean and remove all the extra writing, like the Km/H, "fuel door >" and "Premium Fuel" texts and the yellow 55mph mark. I think it looks better personally. Because he sent in Gen 2 gauges, the small 2.5 mph marks and the smaller hashes on the tach are missing. That is the only thing other then the hole for the fuel light that I don't like about them. If they were there, I'd be running a set of reverse EL speedhut gauges with the factory black faces with white lettering and green EL.

Instead, I decided to use the stock Gen 1 gauges because of the smaller marks and the lack of the 55mph line. I mainly did it though for the green lighting. All my dash lights were converted from the Gen 2 blue/aqua to the Gen 1 green using a few different methods including light gells and LEDs. My window switches were converted as well. I've had it like this for about 3 years now and I wouldn't change it back at all.

I'm trying to find a set of white face gauges, that illuminate a nice soft blue around just the lettering at night.

Does anyone have a picture of the speedhut reverse el gauges illuminated at night?

(The speedhut gauges where only the numbers light up)

I'm not crazy of gauges like the one shown directly below, that are so bright that they illuminate the whole cockpit. Even when dimmed down, they still remind me of a neon tube, throwing light in all directions

The generic eBay reverse el gauges that light up just the letters aren't too bad, but the real big downfall is that IMHO they appear too "cartoon" looking and have the ugly glowing circles around the tach and speedometer.

Here are a set of speedhut reverse el gauges that I found doing a yahoo search. This is the look that I'm trying to achieve and wondering if the reverse el gauges for the SHO appear the same. In my eyes, these appear more understated and classy.

By no means am I trying to step on anyones toes when it comes to their choice on their own gauges. I've just reviewed all of the pictures in this link and nothing gives me that wow factor. And since I'm going to be staring right at them every time I get in the car, I don't want to settle for anything that I'm not thrilled with.

I know what you're saying, Keystone. I just got a set of reverse EL SpeedHut faces off of eBay that look pretty much like what you wanted (See here), other than the "SHO" logo on each gauge (I suppose in case you forget what kind of car you're driving you can just look down for a quick reminder).

I'll post pics when I get them installed.

YES YES.. Those are exactly what I want!! Absolutely stunning and classy.

Will be ordering them right away..

Do you have to buy special red bulbs for just the lighting of the needles? I looked around speedhuts website and they sell those small led's that plug into the bulb socket inside the instrument cluster.

What all do I need to accomplish the Exact same look at the picture above.

Oh, and one more question, I thought the speedhut gauges also came with the white face idiot lights. Did you not install them, or did they stop making the idiot lights with the white face?

AC Autotechnic R2 gauges. I think I picked them up right as they were being discontinued.

You can find red LEDs 194 bulbs on ebay, I recommand the ones called "superstar", alternatively you can get regular red incandesent bulbs at say Autozone as well.
