possibly fried eec / tweecer ?

been ****** with somedudes sho, and the lean / rich condition makes no sense

alex and i are starting to wonder if the problem is in the EEC or the Tweecer, because now even though ive got the injectors set as being 200 pounders, the car still dumps to much fuel

i also had the maf map leaned 95%, and it was still rich ... now it doesnt even start, it stumbles while cranking just the same weather the tweecer is in or out

if the tweecer came loose at some point, what would have fried ? the tweecer or the EEC?

and what would be the result ?

The only info I have is that if you remove your tweecer while the car is KO, you can harm it. I suppose if it came loose while driving that damage could also occur.

Probably a long shot . . .

..but check the 6-conductor cord (looks like a telephone cord) that connects tweecer to the channel selector. If it's malfunctioning, it won't let you change channels and you'll be running off channel 1 (the default) regardless of which channel you select.

I put the stock tune on channel 1 and the custom tunes on the other channels. For the longest time I kept altering the custom tunes and it seemed like nothing was changing. Frustration set in. I was about to use the tweecer for target practice. To make a long story short, it turned out that cord was defunct.

A simple test: change your idle on channel 2, 3, or 4 to 1500 rpm or something higher than what's on channel 1. You should be able to notice it right away on the custom channel.

Radio Shack has the 6-conductor cords. Make sure it is a 6-conductor and not a plain 4-conductor telephone cord.

Also make sure the contacts on the computer's port are totally clean. They come with electrical grease smeared all over them. All that **** can interfere with proper function.

And secure the tweecer to the computer real tight (I use a couple strips of electrical tape); if left unsecured the thing can flop around on bumps, come loose, and when that happens can potentially fry your computer (been-there, done-that).

well in the course of trying to play with the tune, i would come up w/ 4 tunes, upload them to the 4 positions, and then flick thru them between attempts to start, so i made numerous attempts on position one

the cables have had an easy life, they never get unplugged from the tweecer, and are always coiled up inside the empty glove box when not in use

so i donno ...

I had a similar issue where the car would just lose control of itself and go rich. It ended up being a corrupted program.

I ended up reinstalling the TwEECer software from scratch (onto my laptop), which forced me to re-setup the datalogging parameters. I think this was the key to the problem. I was datalogging different parameters on a couple different cars, and I accidentally changed the datalogging parameters in the process. I think the issue was I was using the payload from program A with program B or something like that. It really was confusing and totally messed everything up.

Try reinstalling your software. Then reload the program to the car, then build a new payload, save the program then reload that program and payload to the car. For some reason, it seems like I need to load a program more than once to make it work.

While it is technically possible to damage or even destroy your PCM with a loosely-connected J3-based device, such occurances seem to be rare. I assume you guys are viewing your calibration data using the correct strategy selected within CalEdit?

Also, while Mike made an excellent point about the possibility of a corrupted or misplaced data logging payload affecting your program, it should not be necessary to reinstall your TwEECer software in order to resolve the problem. Simply reconstruct the proper payload within CalEdit and then upload that new payload file with your calibration data to the TwEECer and you should be good to go.
