please help.. fire problem

1991 taurus sho. i was driving notcied the car was running a little hot. smelled like electrica
l burning the nthe car just shut off. pulled over and upon looking for the smoke i found my
electric fan motor on fire. i put it out nothing else wasdamaged but now the car wont start.
well it starts but wont run if i give it any gas. fuel pump works, has fuel pressure. the car will
crank over at a normal speed and start and run at a very low idle. then it will shut off and
when i try to start it again it acts like the battery is dead. but if i wait a few seconds it has
full cranking power.. please help i dont know whats wrong

SHO-TIME,

Electrical fires are usually caused by a "short" and/or high AMPERAGE draw. Check your fuses. If there is a blown fuse, this will tell you what circuits to check for continuity, shorts, and/or "opens" in the circuits.

Sears Hardware, and Radio Shack, both sell a multi-meter for checking electrical circuits for; resistance (ohms), shorts (grounded circuit), opens (broken circuit or no continuity). You also want the meter to be able to check amps and voltage. A test probe (like a screwdriver with a light in it) can also be used to test circuits.

If you can, determine what caused the fire. Check your codes for any failed sensors. There is no easy answer to your problem. You may end up checking each wire in each circuit, and each sensor in the circuits, until you find the problem. Hope this helps, rangerj

Probably burnt up the CCR module. That is where the fan relay is.
