Arg! My 89 has a persistent fuel leak at the quick disconnect coupler (supply line) to fuel rail connector. I've already replaced the O-rings and garter spring (from Ford), ensured the retaining clip is on tight, and inspected it for corrosion and damage (can't see anything wrong with it).

Any suggestions? Maybe replacing the line side of the coupler?

Followup.

It was the fuel line side connector that was bad. The outer ****** that holds the garter spring had broken free from the center part of the hose and was causing the leak. The outer ****** turned freely on the fitting (it's not supposed to).

Ford only supplies complete fuel line assemblies at $119 list, so I ended up with a trip to U-Wrench-it, an inline connector from NAPA, and a couple of hose clamps.

No more fuel leak or smell! :)
