It seems I have a parking brake light that only iluminates when it wants to. Brake fluid level is fine.

When the light isn't working, the auto-release mechanism that automatically releases the brake when the car is put into gear doesn't work. Works when the light does.

The parking brake works fine.

Anyone know what is going on?

Check the switch that the parking brake presses on when released. The rubber pad on the parking brake pedal was apparently made of a grade of rubber that was designed to return to its liquid state and create a gummy, sticky, contact fouling mess.

And again, you are the man...

I had a look under there, and there is a little spring loaded piece with an electrical connector made of nylon or plastic.

It works if you jiggle it a bit, but once it gets hammered by the return pedal, the connection is lost. I'll take it out tomorrow and have a look.

Anyone have a spare one kicking around?

Thanks
