Mechanically, the brake operates fine. It disengages with authority and returns positively to the "off" position. I don't notice any dragging with it off. However... the brake light on the dash sometimes stays lit, sometimes goes out and lights up while driving.

Anyone deal with this before? Where is the switch that controls the light? Anything in particular I should look at?

Thanks

There are two switches that can turn on the BRAKE light:

1) The parking brake switch located on the parking brake mechanism. That black, gooey crap is often the reason for a sticking switch.

2) The fluid level float switch in the brake fluid reservoir. Check your fluid level.

Next time the light is on, you can unplug each of the switches and see which one makes the light go out. Then you'll know which one needs attention.

Good info, thanks. I'll go hunting today.

Muddling around without any direction to try and fix something is such a royal PITA. Getting solid advice from this forum is so satisfying -- I actually get jazzed to go work on stuff.
